After watching Jared Ball's The Infamous Music Industry Harvard Report! Black People Have Never Had Soul, one truth stands clear:
Black music has been treated like a natural resource—extracted, repackaged, and sold back to us in colonial form.
The Harvard Report exposed the music industry’s blueprint for exploiting the Black community—not just for our sound, but for our souls. It wasn’t just about profit—it was about power. They didn’t just want to sell records; they wanted to shape minds, narratives, and control the direction of consciousness.
From genre fabrication to radio manipulation, from false flags of Black ownership to the use of Black neighborhoods as test markets, the system was never designed for us to win. Even when the faces looked like ours, the checks and decisions came from boardrooms far removed from our communities.
But we see through it now. And we’re done playing their game.
